Family-Friendly Fun in Onslow County

The Preserve at Tidewater is located in Sneads Ferry, a quiet, close-knit fishing village in the heart of Onslow County.

While we love the small town charm and modern luxuries the Preserve offers, we also look forward to venturing out and seeing what the rest of our county has to offer. As it turns out, there’s plenty in Onslow County to keep us busy! To show you what we mean, here are five of our favorite ways to while away the days.

Coastal Plains Raceway Jacksonville, NC

Coastal Plains Raceway is located on Highway 24, just four miles west of Jacksonville, NC. It offers the best racing action in eastern North Carolina. For great family fun, a company night out, or a community fundraiser, this is a unique, fun, and thrilling choice!

Sneads Ferry Community Theater Sneads Ferry, NC

Since it’s first production in 2002, the Sneads Ferry Community Theater has been providing theatre that entertains and enriches the local community. There is always something going on at this theatre. Check out their schedule to see their current shows, and who knows—you may even want to audition as an actor or musician and steal the spotlight!

Mike’s Farm Beulaville, NC

Mike’s Farm is a family-oriented business that welcomes the general public. They host different events throughout the year, including group cookouts, birthday parties, and Dinner Shows. They’re also available for all your seasonal needs, such as Christmas trees, pumpkin picking, and their famous hayrides. Make sure to visit the farm animals while you’re there!

Hammocks Beach State Park Swansboro, NC

A crown jewel of the North Carolina coast and Hammocks Beach State Park is Bear Island—a three-mile-long, undeveloped barrier island accessible by the park’s passenger ferry, private ferry or by paddling a canoe or kayak. Rent or bring your own kayaks, canoes or paddleboards to explore paddling trails leading to marshes, Bear Island or Huggins Island, and enjoy the breathtaking beauty.

4th of July Freedom Festival Jacksonville, NC

While this festival only takes place once per year, it’s worth the wait! The event offers games, food, rides, face painting, live music and much more. At 9PM, the spectacular Patriotic Fireworks Display takes place, and the whole event is free to the public. Because of Jacksonville’s military population, this event is extra special to the both residents and guests.

We hope this list shines a light on just some of the great things going on in Onslow County. For more up-to-date events and fun opportunities, follows The Preserve at Tidewater on Facebook and Twitter.
